Eric founded African Frontier Capital in 2010. He has over 20 years private equity and investment banking experience gained on Wall Street (Barrington Capital), London (Citigroup Investment Banking) and in Sub-Saharan Africa.
He has advised and structured billions of dollar of structured finance and cross border M&A transactions, IPOs, LBOs and Real Estate transactions. Before founding African Frontier Capital, Eric was at PME African Infrastructure Opportunities fund where he led the fund’s efforts in Energy, Real Estate, ICT, Aviation and Water transactions.
Eric has been investing in high impact sub Saharan African markets since 2007 as a principal and has overseen the deployment of over USD 300 million of capital in numerous sectors throughout sub Saharan Africa. Eric has an MBA from London Business School, UK.
Karim has more than 15 years of experience in the capital market, specializing in originating, structuring and executing securitization transactions and leading cross-functional teams.
Karim joined African Frontier Capital in 2018 from Bank and Clients where he was Managing Director in charge of the Credit Underwriting. He successfully delivered complex and tailor-made structured credit solutions for corporates on a wide range of collateral types including equipment loans and leases, trade receivables, credit cards and fleet leases.
Prior to that, Karim served as the head of deal execution, risk management, and operations at Ocean Capital Associates. In this role, he was responsible for overseeing all aspects of the execution process, from the early stages of origination through to structuring, cash flow modelling, credit analysis, collateral analysis, and post-closing monitoring design.
Karim holds a Master's degree in Macro Economics and Quantitative Analysis from the University Paris X.
Buhle is a Financial Analyst and joined African Frontier Capital in 2022. She began her professional career at Absa Bank South Africa and, over the past 4 years, has worked in banking, consulting and non-profit organizations.
Before African Frontier Capital, Buhle worked in Business Development and Strategic Partnerships at Global Citizen, a global advocacy organization. She is mission-driven and committed to finding innovative solutions using business, education and policy to create a more equitable society. Her keen interest and research are in gender-lens investing in Africa.
Buhle holds a BA (Honours) in International Business and Trade from the African Leadership University.
Joseph is a Financial Analyst at African Frontier Capital since 2022. He has over 3 years of experience in data science, working previously at the African Center for Data Science and Analytics.
He has a BSc in Actuarial Science from Kisii University and a Data Scientist certification from The International Association of Business Analytics.
With experience in both cutting edge machine learning and traditional credit modelling, Mark joined African Frontier Capital in 2023 to enhance the data and risk analytics function.
With over 10 years of experience in a wide range of statistical modelling roles, Mark has been a Senior Data Scientist at JP Morgan Chase, where he designed forecasting and reinforcement learning algorithms for their retail bank, and an Associate Director in credit risk research and analytics at Moody’s where he advised large financial institutions on quantitative credit risk management.
Mark holds a Master’s in Machine Learning from University College London and a Master's in Financial Mathematics from Leeds University Business School. When not immersed in programming code Mark enjoys traveling and Thai boxing.
